The Effect of Changing Supply Feading of Different Dietary Protein on Nucleic Acid Metabolism

Abstract
This study was devised to observe the change of nucleic acid metabolism in rats by changing supply of the high protein diet and low protein diet by the interval of 1 or 2 months.
The experimental animals were male albino rats being just weaned, and the contents of RNA and DNA in the, liver, kidney and brain, were determined.
The results obtained are summarized as follows:
1. The contents of RNA and DNA of 1, 2 and 3 months feeding groups are higher in the
feeding groups of low protein diet, than in the standard diet and high protein diet group.
2. The contents of RNA and DNA of 6 months feeding group are higher in the feeding group of high protein diet, while being less in the low protein diet group, than in the standard diet group.
3. In the feeding group of high protein diet after treating with low protein diet, the contents of RNA and DNA are less in the early stage of growth, than in the continuous feeding group of low protein diet only.
4. In the feeding group of low protein diet after treating with high protein diet, the contents of RNA and DNA are no remarkable change in the early stage of growth, even though compared with the continuous feeding group of high protein diet only.
